The Soviet Union controlled its satellite nations in three ways. One is economically through the Warsaw Pact, forcing all those involved mutual and exclusive trading partners with the Soviet Union. Secondly, the Red Army was stationed throughout the Eastern Bloc since the end of World War Two. Witness the rebellions of the 50s and 60s in places like Poland and Hungary. Tanks rolled through the capital cities within 48 hours. The third and final method of control was political through setting up friendly communist governments. Leaders of these nations were mere puppets of the Communist Party leader (whether it be Stalin or Khruschev or Gorbachov) and could be removed from office at a moment's notice. It also doesn't hurt that ';elections'; were rigged as to where the Communists had either a clear majority or were leaders of a coalition government. How did the Soviet Union control it satellite nations?
I think his soldiers were in them kicking all the Nazis out from WWII and forced them to Communist government. How did the Soviet Union control it satellite nations?
Lan answered it quite nicely. I might add that USSR used capitalist fear like the Red scare in USA. The problem grew when media was improved to the point where Eastern Europe wanted capitalism.
