Is it bad to start birth control before you're supposed to start your period?

I started the pill that only gives me a period once every three monthes.

I started it about two weeks ago and would have started my period sometime around this week if I weren't on the pills.

And lately I've been having annoying discomfort that feel like cramps.

I don't know what to do or if it's bad that I started taking the pills so soon before when I was supposed to have my period. Is it bad to start birth control before you're supposed to start your period?
Typically those types of pill will cause break-through bleeding (spotting) in the first few months.

For your cramps, I don't know. Maybe you're still getting used to them. It takes 3 to 4 months to get used to birth control pills.

A doctor will usually suggest that you start taking your pills the Sunday after you start your period.
