Is it ok to start birth control pill right after 6 week checkup without waiting for your first period?

are you supposed to wait till the sunday after your period comes back? i started the pill the day my dr. gave it to me at my six week postpartum checkup. i didn't wait for my period...will everything be ok? will my period come durring the sugar pills at the end of the pack like usual? i am not breastfeeding. Is it ok to start birth control pill right after 6 week checkup without waiting for your first period?
you should ask your obgynIs it ok to start birth control pill right after 6 week checkup without waiting for your first period?
There's no reason to wait for your period to start your pills. If your doctor wanted you to wait, I'm sure she would have said something, or not even given you the prescription yet. When/if you have your period doesn't affect your pills' effectiveness, you just may have a bit of spotting when you would normally have your period until your body gets adjusted.
That definitely sounds like a question that you should ask your OB/GYN due to the fact that it's a rather important health question.
My dr. told me i could start taking mine right away, but i chose to wait for my period. I would ask your doctor if your unsure though.
you can start whenever you don't have to wait... it will just prevent you from getting your period until you take the sugar pills
