What is the government doing wrong when it comes to Gun Control?

According to the constitution, it is the responsibility of the American people to maintain a militia, consisting of all males over the age of 16. All men were supposed to maintain a military weapon. We the people, were supposed to make the decisions on when we go to war, not the government. It wasn't intended for our President to make the decision to declare war, but a joint decision of our Malitia (truly our peoples decision). Slowly, but surely our government has stripped us our rights to defend ourselves. Instead, our government puts our men in the line of fire with alterior motives (money, power). Although most of what we like to think could be done, is so impossible because of politics, what do you think the ideal gun control laws would consist of? What would change as a result?What is the government doing wrong when it comes to Gun Control?
i haven't been stripped of my right to own any gun i choose,but i'm not a criminal. the absurd claim that politicians of either party are taking or want to take away the right to bear arms is a tired issue. it will never happen and gun control is OK as it is. if you feel localities that attempt to ban ';scary'; looking guns are unfair fight it. that much i agree.What is the government doing wrong when it comes to Gun Control?
we should all have weapons equal to the best available. This is Jeffersons greatest contribution to our country. In case americans ever realize they are being hoodwinked into believing the 2 party system works and the media tells the truth. This is important since Bush stole the election from Gore and democracy is failing. We need to mobilize now in the voting booths!!
The wrong thing is 'control'....not just of our guns, but in too many areas of our lives. kinda like an unwanted/unvited guest.
Well first off about ';the people'; being the ones deciding to go to war, there are SO many problems with that statement. First off we have a VOLUNTEER ARMY. That means if you don't want to go to war you can be discharged and not go. So in a sense the soldiers can decide if we go to war. And we can't have 90 year old men with pitch forks jumping on a plane and trying to start a war in Iraq, just because they think it is right, either.


Also, would you really want a 16 year old with a gun. What if he gets mad after the Friday night game because he doesn't think that the coach played him enough? Or if his girlfriend breaks up with him? Or does Columbine ring any bells with you?


If you a honest, good citizen in this country there is no problem obtaining and owning a gun!


And last but not least, the government using ulterior motive to fuel a war is absurd. Only left wing, kool-aid drinkers forget what happened on 9-11, or do you think that we are just suppose to do nothing but bend over and let the terrorist fly another highjacked plane right up our @ss.

Nowhere does it say anything about the age of 16, nor does it say ';all men were supposed to maintain a military weapon.'; It says the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. You don't HAVE to have a gun.

The President is in charge of the military and the militias, not a gaggle of wannabe armchair generals.

Its scary to be alongside any armed American. You do so enjoy shooting each other and us for that matter. Considering your president begged us to go to war and our Prime Minister told a flat out lie to get the British people to agree. But who are you defending yourself from? Is America now so paranoid I thought you were the land of the free. I am not yank bashing you have a great country and were once the leaders and defenders of the free world but why this obsession with fire arms. A gun has only one purpose and one place in the hands of trained proffesionals not at home in a shoe box.
