When coming off birth control, how long does it take to conceive - on average?

My fiance and I are starting to talk about trying to conceive. I'm just curious how long it took other women to conceive after stopping birth control? I know it varies for everyone. See we're getting married in May and are hoping to conceive around that time period. When should I stop my birth control to achieve this? Should I wait until May to stop BC? If I understand it correctly, it can take 2 to 4 weeks to start ovulating again after a long period of time on BC. Just wanted some opinions! Thanks! When coming off birth control, how long does it take to conceive - on average?
Well, I got pregnant ON the pill! I had been on the pill (non-stop) for 10 years! got an ear infection and was put on an antibiotic (I only took the antibiotic for 3 days) and it completely de-activated my birth control pills .. I got pregnant instantly!

So, your body doesn't build up a tolerance from the pills! :)

I'm now going strong (20 weeks pregnant) with a very healthy baby boy! :)

good luck! God bless! When coming off birth control, how long does it take to conceive - on average?
My OB told me that you are actually more fertile right after stopping birth control. I stopped them for a month, but still used other forms and the 1st time we were not protected, I got pregnant! Congrats on the wedding!
i always heard it takes an average of 3 months. doctors recommend using an alternate form of bc for three months before trying to conceive after getting off the pill, so you can regulate your cycle %26amp; the due date will be more accurate.

i took my last active pill Jan 15, started Jan 18th, and apparently conceived Feb 1st !! so it *can* happen right away! i didn't think it would !
I was taking an oral contraceptive and I was told to wait a month before trying so that you have a normal period and then it took me a week ! But every body is different and it may take up to a full year...good luck!
One of the advantages of the birth control pill is that it's quickly reversible. After you stop taking the pill, you may have only a two-week delay before you ovulate again. Your period would follow about four to six weeks after you take the last pill.

Once ovulation resumes, you can become pregnant. If this happens during your first cycle off the pill, you may not have a period at all. However, although possible, this scenario isn't likely. You have only a one in five chance of becoming pregnant during your first cycle trying to conceive.
I would stop now, my sis in law was taking them for 5 yrs and when her and her husband went off them and tried getting preg they couldnt supposedly after being on them for so long they needed special help because the pill screwed her system up big time. Good Luck and Congrats on your wedding.
You need to be more specific about what method you are using. If it's the pill then you should be ok right away to get pregnant but if you are on the Depo shot then it can take up to a year for fertility to return to normal...

Don't forget to factor in other variables, such as your age, how often you have sex, etc.
IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. I HAVE HEARD IT CAN TAKE UP TO A YEAR TO CONCEIVE AFTER STOPPING BC. MY FRIEND STOPPED IT AND GOT PREGGERS RIGHT AWAY.
i was on bc for a few years. Came of it and fell pregnant straight away
i was on the pill for 7 years. when i stopped taking it, on the 3rd month being off it i conceived. i'm now 29 weeks 3 days.good luck.
My friend took about a year and a half to get pregnant after stopping the pill.
I would stop as soon as possible... It can take up to three months for the birth control to get out of your system i believe.. However, it can take up to a year to get prego anyway... If it takes longer than a year then you should see your doctor bc you could have some problems.. Some people get pregnant right in the beginning though, so it all just depends on you and your hunnie... Hope this helped!!
it is different for everyone...some people it takes awhile but others can get pregnant right away...i went off birth control and during my next ovulation we conceived our daughter...so it all depends...just be patient and it will happen when its meant to! good luck!
They say when stoping birthcontrol, you should wait 6 or 8 months for the bc to get out of your body before trying to concieve. You should stop your birthcontrol now, it might take a year or less for you to finally become pregnant. Like you said it varies for everyone.
