Is it ok to start birth control pill right after 6 week checkup without waiting for your first period?

are you supposed to wait till the sunday after your period comes back? i started the pill the day my dr. gave it to me at my six week postpartum checkup. i didn't wait for my period...will everything be ok?Is it ok to start birth control pill right after 6 week checkup without waiting for your first period?
Are you breastfeeding? If so you were given the ';minipill'; you can start that asap or wait till your period. If not then it will be fine but give yourself a little time before having unprotected sex. And it doesn't matter what do you start, the pills should have came with a little label that you can put on the package and change the days in whatever order you need them to be...Is it ok to start birth control pill right after 6 week checkup without waiting for your first period?
yes, its ok- the only reason they tell you to start the sunday after your period is to keep your period on the schedule. i didnt get my first perios until 9 months post partum
That really can screw up your system a lot doing it that way. You should have waited for your period.
Yes it is fine! I was given the mini-pill at my 6-week check up, and was told that I could start it on the Sunday, and didn't need to wait until my next period. Hope this helps.
You will be fine. After giving birth your period might not come back for months, and you will end up pregnant before your period gets back. You did the right thing by starting it right away. :)
