Is it safe to take birth control that is a year expired after its expiration date?

I am taking Ortho tricyclen Lo and I usually use the Nuva Ring. Because of financial problems, I couldn't afford the Nuva Ring this month and resorted to this last pack of Ortho tricyclen Lo, which expired June 2006 and its now July 2007. Does anybody know or think that there are any risks doing that? Is there a big risk of becoming pregnant taking expired birth control?Is it safe to take birth control that is a year expired after its expiration date?

Throw it away. it is expired it wouldn't work properly.
I wouldn't take them. You could get pregnant. I'd use condoms instead this month, or at least have him pull out.
