Well it really depends on the type of perscription you have.
Im currently using the Tri-Nessa Birth control pill, and you are protected AFTER the 7 days (of the first ever pack you take). But i suggest that if you are having sex during the first week (just started taking BC) use a back up contraceptive.

it takes 1 full pack to be fully protected... use back up for 1 mth after starting the pill
