Is it necessary to treat for pest control professionally more than once?

I just purchased a home and I've been seeing ants, spiders and other bugs in the yard, and some inside the house. I have treated the outside and inside with home defense; but I guess it is not strong enough. Is it necessary to treat for pest control professionally more than once?
Most pesticides DO lose their effectiviness over a period of time. Some can last as little as a day as the sun and UV rays burn the chemicals away, some can last as long as 90days as... long as they are not washed away by your sprinkler system.

In general it is important to reapply the chemicals regularly in order for them to continue to be effective. Most homeowners that I do business with do not want to have to keep track of a pest schedules and so hire us to do either a monthly or quarterly service. I had a house built last year..the sand that was brought in was infested with ants. We had a professional in to spray for the ants, and he told us we would probably have to have it sprayed twice the first two years and once a year after that for a while. Once a year seems to be enough. The exterior of the house is sprayed and is people/pet safe after two hours of drying. I recommend this..we had no spiders, or anything else afterwards and it was very economical at $125.00. Well worth it in my eyes.
some bugs and vermin are brought home in your groceries and department store purchases, if afforadble have a contract with a reputable pest control company and they will come around on a periodic, scheduled basis ;check their references and BBB for coments as to reputation.
Treat 3 times...to kill the living, to kill the unborn when they hatch, and to kill any stragglers that wern't killed the first two times.
Whatever product you use will tell you on the label how long it will work for and what it will kill. Nothing lasts forever and certainly not more than a month or two. Yup, you have to keep spraying. . .
it can be i guesss bugs are just atracted to their own kind
