I have low blood sugar, and always used it as an excuse to eat sugary foods. Problem is, when you eat high sugar ffods your body produces way too much insulin and drops you blood sugar again. If I feel my BS is low I eat a small sweet first to bring up the level then eat some fruit or something with carbs in it that's longer lasting. Also I think Chromium supplements help even out BS levels.Low blod sugar, can i control it?
How do you know it is low blood sugar? Do you have a meter? It sounds to me like you are getting sugar highs and sugar crashes. Your best bet is to get your A1c checked. A blood sugar meter measures your BS level in a ';snap shot'; at that moment level. A1c measures it over a 60 day period.
First get rid of the sugar. DO NOT shift to Equal or one of the others as these will actually slow your metabolism (your body's fuel burning rate) and Splenda is just sugar chemically altered by chlorine (yes, as in bleach).
Use sugar sparingly in coffee or tea. Avoid the gut bombs...cake, pie, donuts and ';white food'; like bread, wheat, rice, pasta. Switch to whole grains.
Finally eat 5-6 meals a day. But little ones Avoid the 1500 calorie super-sized belly buster. Eat fruits and veggies and plenty of protien, low fat dairy. Learn to eat until you are satisfied, NOT until you are full. There is a big difference. Throw away half that Big Mac. Waste some money-save your life.
Move your body!!! Walk, swim, dance, what ever, get off your azz and on your way.
Go see a doctor, an internist. Get your A1c checked. Don't wait until you are 40 when you have a real problem with type II diabetes or worse.
My dad has low blood sugar and my mom has diabetes. My mom's blood sugar is controlled with diet and exercise. I think my dad only needs to make sure he eats small balanced meals throughout the day. I know he doesn't eat a lot of sweets. I hope this helps some....
eat some suckers or some small bite sized candy, that usually helps. I know what to do because my mom is a diabetic and you most likely are a diabetic too and I think you should see if you have it, it would help alot to know
